The Given Brief

For this project I had to take a political issue of my choice and create a design using non-digital techniques that could be used for a magazine cover. 

The Mood & Concept 

After sketching my design on paper — I hand painted it on a canvas with acrylic paint before bringing it into Adobe InDesign to create the magazine cover. 

I decided to use symbolism in my design to represent my chosen political issue — social media, and how it is taking over people’s minds. The painting shows a girl looking up, focussed only on social media. I represented this by painting d ifferent app icons in a view point area. I then used the Japanese Honeysuckle plant to represent nature taking over around her while she is blinded by the world in social media.
